August 25th

Simply put, being strong translates to being happy; being weak translates to being unhappy. What I truly wish, is for you to become women of strength, women with a solid core in life.

- Daisaku Ikeda

Japanese text:
強いことが、幸福である。弱さは不幸に通じる。強い心の女性、芯の強い女性になってもらいたい。
(Josei ni okuru kotoba 365 nichi, pg. 256)

People whose lives are firmly grounded in the understanding of the question "For what purpose?" are truly strong. As long as this base is established, they will never sway in life. Even when the going gets tough, they will not lose heart. They will only continue to grow stronger.

Daisaku Ikeda

Japanese Text:
"「何のため」という、たしかな原点がある人は強い。この一点が定まっていれば、人生に迷わない。苦しくても、へこたれない。まっすぐに伸びていける。"
(Josei ni okuru kotoba 365 nichi, pg. 286)

"For what purpose?"
Those who always go back to this question, are strong.
As long as this approach is established firmly in our lives,
we won't experience confusion.
Even in the midst of our sufferings, we will not lose heart.
Instead, we will be able to make steady onward progress.
