Rather than chasing after money and fame, it is far more valuable for human beings to pursue learning. No matter how famous a person may be, unless they have an attitude to learn, it is hard for anyone to respect them. On the other hand, those who spend their entire lives educating themselves, deserve our highest respect and admiration.

The two Chinese characters that depict the word "Education" are individually the words "learning" and "together". Children are truly amazing. They have the most brilliant radiance of life. When adults watch happy children they become happy themselves. A place where the joyful chatter, the hustle and bustle of children can be heard is a place that holds the promise of hope. It holds the promise of a peaceful world. It brings out the joy of living.

(Josei ni okuru kotoba 365 nichi, pg. 320)

Both education and parenting are tasks that demand the investment of large amounts of time. Even though you may take a lot of initiative and put in a lot of effort, the results may not always be visible immediately. However, you can be sure that as long as you sow the seeds of happiness and abundantly plow the soil of a child's heart, the fact of your having done so, will always remain with them.

All of your hard work, your sweat and toil, will become priceless treasures for a child, certain to bear fruit sooner or later.
