June 10th

Peace and prosperity within a family does not imply the complete absence of worries or hardships. Even at a time when the worst of storms are raging, as long as the light of the sun is shining brightly, it's alright. A mother is that very light of the sun for the family.

- Daisaku Ikeda

WAGA YA NO HEIWA TO ITTE MO, KURO YA NAYAMI GA NANI MO NAI JOTAI DEWA NAI. DONNA ARASHI NO YO NA TOKI DE ATTE MO, KAZOKU NO NAKA NI TAIYO GA KAGAYAITE IREBA YOI NO DE ARU. SONO IKKA NO TAIYO KOSO, OKASAN DESU.

Saying "Who cares? It isn't my problem!" can be a convenient way of ignoring an important issue. However, saying so makes human beings much smaller than they are capable of being. Each time we try to convince ourselves by saying "Who cares?" we begin to erase our own humanity, until we are left with none of it. Only women who actively lead our society towards peace, are its true guardians.

- Daisaku Ikeda

(Josei ni okuru kotoba 365 nichi, pg. 230)

Women who spend their energies in making friends happy, are doctors of happiness. Women who take pains to find peaceful solutions in society, are guardian angels of peace.

- Daisaku Ikeda

Working for world peace is not something far removed from our daily life. Peace lies in the struggle of each one of us to battle with and overcome the egoistic self who thinks that as long as I am fine, I don't care what happens with the world. It lies in being sensitive to others' sufferings and being able to perceive them as our own. It is within seemingly insignificant daily events, that our simple efforts for peace will pay off.

- Daisaku Ikeda

November 23rd

It is said that "A child smile is worth more than a thousand words." The smile and purity of a child's life moves a person's heart far more than a thousand grown-up words spoken in the name of peace.

- Daisaku Ikeda
